I’m seeing nothing different about how Google collected data prior to this announcement, and the fact that this has XXXX notes means people don’t pay attention to what tech companies do until IT’S TOO LATE!!!! OH NOES!!!!

Fear-mongering is one of my biggest pet peeves.
As many users have observed, Tumblr has recently given users a choice to uninstall Missing e or revoke support for your account.

“I had been working a little bit on the code when the mood struck, but when they began releasing features similar to those in Missing e, I have to admit that I got my back up. I am glad that they are trying to improve, whether or not they’ve taken their cues from me. Still, I think the way they’ve implemented these new features leaves a little to be desired. The new release will fix the tag wrapping problem and allow users to make automatic tag reblogging optional.”Still, no official comment from Tumblr. Disappointing, guys.

Jesus Christ. So it was as bad as it looked from the outset. The features they want to take away are the very ones that make the product great :( Why are you not hiring this person, Tumblr, or at least taking some of his ideas and building upon them? He made your product better!
Can’t wait to go back to not being able to figure out what was the last post I read on Tumblr. :/

Look, Tumblr, I know you like to care about things, but the guy who reported this made this up. And although UNC’s pretty queer-friendly, this guy just made it that harder for queer people to report actual homophobic attacks on the campus and in the community. Sometimes, Tumblr, Google News can be your friend.
